Privacy Policy
Effective and last updated: 24 August 2026
Kova Fitness (“Kova”) is operated by Coastline Group Service (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Policy explains how we collect, hold, use, disclose and protect personal information when you use the Kova Fitness app, website and related services.
1. Information we may collect
Depending on features used, we may collect account/profile information; goals/preferences; workout programs, sessions and recovery activity; nutrition logs, meals, searches and barcode identifiers; running sessions, precise location and routes while GPS tracking is enabled; body metrics, readiness and progress information; health and fitness information you authorise through Apple Health/HealthKit; support communications; and limited technical, security and diagnostic information.
2. How we collect information
We generally collect information directly from you. With permission, information may also come from device sensors, GPS/location services, the camera for barcode recognition, Apple Health/HealthKit and third-party services needed for requested features.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide and secure accounts; deliver Kova features; calculate/display metrics; retain history; provide support; protect security; improve the Services; process deletion; and meet legal obligations. We do not use HealthKit information or precise running-location information for advertising.
4. Camera and barcodes
If camera permission is granted, Kova uses it to recognise product barcodes. A detected barcode may be sent to a food-data provider such as Open Food Facts. The barcode workflow is intended to recognise the barcode rather than retain photographs.
5. Location
If you use GPS running and grant permission, Kova may process precise location during an active activity to record routes and calculate distance, pace and related metrics. Routes may be stored with completed activities. Location permissions can be changed in device settings.
6. Apple Health and HealthKit
If connected, Kova accesses only Health categories you authorise and uses them for requested fitness functionality. HealthKit information is not sold or used for advertising or marketing. Permissions can be managed in Apple's Health and Settings apps.
7. Service providers
Kova may use Open Food Facts for food data; Supabase for authentication, database and backend functionality; Apple platform services; and hosting/infrastructure providers. Providers handling personal information on our behalf are expected to protect it and use it only for authorised purposes.
8. Disclosure and sale
We may disclose information to providers helping operate Kova, where you direct or consent, where reasonably necessary to protect users or the Services, or where required or authorised by law. We do not sell personal information.
9. Overseas processing
Some providers may process or store information outside Australia and locations may vary with provider infrastructure. Where the Australian Privacy Principles apply, we take reasonable steps appropriate to the circumstances regarding overseas handling. Contact us for current provider-location information.
10. Security and retention
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information. No electronic system is completely secure. Information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Kova and meet legitimate legal, security and operational requirements.
11. Account deletion
You can initiate permanent deletion through Profile → Delete Account. Deletion is designed to remove your authentication account and applicable user-owned profile, goals, workout, nutrition, running, route, body/progress and related records, subject to information we are legally required or permitted to retain. Shared food/exercise catalogues are not personal account data.
12. Access and correction
You may update some information directly in Kova or contact us to request access to or correction of personal information we hold. We may verify identity first.
13. Complaints
For privacy concerns or complaints, contact us through Kova Support. We will take reasonable steps to investigate and respond. If the Privacy Act applies and you remain dissatisfied, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
14. Choices and permissions
You choose whether to grant optional camera, location and Health permissions and can change them in device settings. Some features require their relevant permission. You may delete your account using the in-app deletion flow.
15. Children
Kova is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13. Higher local age or consent requirements apply where relevant.
16. Changes
We may update this Policy as Kova, our practices or legal requirements change. The current version and last-updated date will be published here.
